Wood Machinist Cnc & Edgebander Operator

Sherwood is a successful commercial and domestic joinery manufacturer specializing in commercial fitouts, residential fitouts and custom joinery. 

We manufacture and install built / fixed in joinery for commercial and a variety of sectors – Health care, public spaces, common areas, hotel and residential projects. 

We are seeking a skilled CNC & Edgebander Operator to join our team. This role involves operating CNC machinery and edgebanders to fabricate and finish high-quality components for various projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in woodworking or related fields, be detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate CNC machinery and edgebanders with precision and safety.
• Read and interpret blueprints and design plans to understand project requirements.
• Perform machine setups, adjustments, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
• Select appropriate tools, materials, and techniques for each job.
• Monitor the production process and make adjustments as needed to meet quality standards.
• Inspect finished pieces for accuracy, quality, and defects.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a CNC operator, Edgebander Operator, or in a similar role.
• Familiarity with CNC programming and operation.
• Strong understanding of woodworking processes and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• High attention to detail and precision.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• School or Trade  diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training in CNC operation is a plus.
• Able to work in a team environment and/or individually
• A team player who is reliable and gets the job done.
• Excellent time management and organisation skills to meet deadlines.
• Fit and healthy as some lifting will be required.
