About the Role
This newly created position will play a pivotal role in supporting the ongoing development and improvement of the revised WHS Framework, with the objective of ensuring that the highest standard of safety and Wellbeing is achieved within Carers SA.
Reporting to the Executive Manager People and Culture and as the first point of contact for Health Safetyand Wellbeing matters across the organisation, the WHS and Wellbeing Coordinator is responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining all WHS registers, such as training, hazard and incident, and risk
- Supporting in the identification of hazards and the assessments of risks and implementation of control measures, and initiating the monitoring and review of control measures
- Reviewing existing controls, together with recommending corrective actions with a prevention, and continual quality improvement focus
- Managing the workers compensation, rehabilitation and return to work processes ensuring legislative compliance and assisting the swift recovery of staff
- Developing and facilitating WHS training and development programs
- Championing and promoting health and Wellbeing programs and opportunities across the organisation
- Gathering and analysing safety data to identify trends to ensure evidence-based decision making and sound recommendations
The successful candidate will ideally possess:
- Demonstrated WHS experience within a similar environment?? and sound knowledge of the importance of workplace safety, including the responsibilities of the employer and employee
- Ability to communicate and influence organisational safety culture within teams and the wider organisation
- Ability to address complex issues requiring investigation and analysis, and the practical application of problem-solving methods and Risk Management techniques
- Ability to analyse operational systems and processes to support continuous improvement and drive change
- Strong organisational, planning and coordination skills with an ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to deliver reports and information that is accurate, timely and professionally presented
Strong working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act is important, as is the ability to work autonomously but collaboratively with the wider People & Culture team.
This role is being offered at 0.6 – 0.8FTE and provides an outstanding opportunity for a WHS professional seeking flexibility, whilst contributing to this worthy organisation.

- Current DHS Working with Children Check
- Completed Child Safe Environments – Through Their Eyes training (or be willing to undertake this training)
