Job description

The Workplace Capability Advisor works in partnership with the business to develop, maintain, deliver and undertake assessments for non-accredited and accredited training in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework. In particular, the role is responsible for training and assessing both new and existing inspectors and technical advisory staff across OIR on best practice and current policies and procedures within the area of inspections, advisory services and investigations.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Consistently develop and deliver new inspector and investigator training and professional development programs including in identified areas for improvement and any refresher/retraining needs. 
  • Develop and maintain consistent, high quality, best practice learning and development and assessment materials. 
  • Perform a mentoring role for new and returning inspectors to facilitate competency development and ongoing development. 
  • Advise, report on, and liaise with the Manager Workforce Capability and managers regarding the individual needs of inspectors and investigators. 
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to assist with the development of training initiatives and ensure training achieves business objectives. 
  • Advise and assist subject matter experts with the development and delivery of training and assessment. 
  • Provide content advice to the Manager Workforce Capability on a broad range of appropriate technical and skills maintenance training specific to the inspector role. 
  • Assess, moderate and validate 'RPL' evidences and requirements submitted by inspectorates staff for nationally recognised qualifications including the Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection). 
  • Undertake training systems and content audits through moderation and validation activities to ensure compliance with training package standards. 
  • To be successful you will likely have experience in training and assessment and high level of knowledge and skill in the specific area of workplace inspection and incident investigation.

  • Presents and facilitates including experience of adult learning as well as knowledge of the Australian Qualifications Framework.

  • Applies technical knowledge: applying workplace inspections and investigations within a regulatory environment 
  • Manages records and documents
