CASA’s People and Capability Branch (Human Resources Branch) is responsible for a broad cross-section of programs and services to create, foster and grow a culture of high performance and integrity through workforce planning, capability building, safety management and wellbeing programs. We enable CASA to effectively perform its functions as they relate to the Civil Aviation Act, 1988.

As the Workforce Data Analyst, you will be a valued member of the Workforce Planning and Strategy Section. This is an exciting time for us as we commence work on a three-year Strategic Workforce Plan. Your contribution will be integral to our success. Your tasks will be of moderate complexity, and you will exercise reasonable autonomy as you undertake regular and ad-hoc research and reporting.

The right person for this job will have HR data analytics and reporting experience or be able to demonstrate similar capabilities and the aptitude to learn the HR domain.

As the Workforce Data Analyst, you will:

·      Extract, collate, analyse, visualise, and interpret a broad scope of HR data from multiple sources including surveys and polls, form submissions, the HRMIS (Aurion), and other HR systems.

·      Assist with the building and maintenance of dashboards within CASA’s data visualisation tool, One Model, to portray key HR information, encourage action and support business areas in decision making.

·      Assist with the preparation of workforce information to assist in analysis of workforce issues.

·      Assist with regular internal reporting, contribute to deep dives as per the Reporting Plan, and conduct ad-hoc reporting in response to requests as they arise, often within tight timeframes.

·      Assist with the drafting of reporting guides and other supporting materials such as standard operating procedures and training guides.

·      Support the Workforce Strategy Team by tailoring One Model dashboards based on the needs of specific business areas; and conduct workforce analysis in support of engagement discussions and workforce planning activities.

·      Support the activities to improve CASA’s use of the workforce segmenting tool, the Job Family Framework, to address specific workforce gaps to inform decision-making.

·      Utilise qualitative and quantitative Workforce Datasets for relevant projections and forecasts to support workforce planning in CASA.

·      Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing HR reporting practices and capability.

·      Liaise with relevant stakeholders to promote workforce planning and reporting and engage with them about it.        .

·      Model and promote workplace safety, equity and diversity, participative management and environmental management in the workplace and act in accordance with CASA’s Values and Behaviours.

Our ideal candidate

Our ideal candidate must demonstrate:

·      Experience in both developing and presenting regular HR reporting.

·      Ability to analyse datasets including those from disparate sources.

·      Well-developed understanding of how analytics supports decision making.

·      Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

·      Excellent attention to detail.

·      Aptitude for using Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheeting tool (minimum expectation is to be able to pivot table/chart and use intermediate level Excel functions).

·      The ability to learn new systems.

·      The ability to communicate with stakeholders effectively.

·      Broad understanding of contemporary HR practices and processes.

Highly Desirable:

·      Experience reporting on a wide range of HR metrics.

·      Power Query and/or Power BI competency, or equivalent.

·      Ability to communicate workforce insights on a range of HR reporting topics across multiple HR areas.

·      Proficient in the use of Aurion and Aurion Query Tool.

·      Qualifications in the areas of human resource management and / or business analytics (beneficial).

Eligibility requirements

Employment with CASA is subject to conditions prescribed within the Civil Aviation Act 1988. The following eligibility requirements apply to this position: 

·      At minimum, prospective CASA employees must undergo pre-employment screening. You must be willing to provide required information to successfully undergo a police record check.

·      Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
