About the Role
In your new role as Workplace Health and Safety Advisor, you will drive the company’s Health Safety and Environment Management System. This is a hands-on role that will see you on the workshop floor daily focusing on safety to reduce the potential for accidents and ensure compliance to relevant legislative requirements. You will also collaborate with customers to ensure safety of all personnel visiting customer sites across Australia and overseas.
The Primary responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing Workplace Health and Safety plans aimed at reducing accidents and near misses.
- Providing WH&S advice and information to all areas of the business, including risk management, codes of practice and legislative requirements.
- Ensuring all company employees have adequate skills, training, and equipment to ensure safety on site and outside of Australia.
- Maintaining WHS & E policies, procedures, work instructions and Safety training records.
- Conducting WH&S audits and inspections on a regular basis to ensure compliance with statutory WH&S requirements and company safety policies and procedures.
- Managing the onsite induction process for trades and professional staff joining the company and for employees visiting a customer’s site.
- Implementing and driving the standardisation of JSA’s and Suitable Duties and Rehabilitation programs across the company.
- Investigate, report, and maintain records of all workplace accidents and provide recommendations for change to ensure safety for all employees.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- Minimum completion of Certificate IV in OHS.
- Previous experience (5 years) in systems management role in the equipment manufacturing industry.
- Mechanical or Electrical Degree/Diploma/Trade qualification or other relevant training with significant exposure to equipment manufacturing processes.
- Hands on experience within a manufacturing environment with exposure to some of the following areas:
- Foods and drinks industry
- Continuous process environments
- Site installation work
- Working with sub-contractors
- Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator Certification desirable.
- Minimum completion of a Certificate IV in Training, Assessment and Education.
