Due to growth we are looking for a Workshop Controller to join our team and be part of our busy service area
You will be responsible for overseeing a dynamic and hardworking team. You will support the Service Manager with the day to day running of the service department workshop and contribute to the efficient and profitable operation of the workshop by effectively managing staff to ensure a high level of productivity, compliance with company policies, procedures, and OH&S standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate appropriate jobs to technicians. This includes co-ordination of road tests, car washes and customer collection schedules.
- Provide effective communication to the respective personnel regarding time management on repairs and communicates this to the respective service team.
- Ensure that day to day efficiencies are maintained on a job by job basis.
- Lead, motivate and develop service/workshop staff, ensure adequate training plans are in place.
- Manage new and used car work through the workshop
- Manage daily activities of the Workshop Department.
- Ensure a certain standard of work is carried out in the service department in accordance with dealership standards.
- Perform any other duties as directed or assigned to the position from time to time.
- Work closely with the Service Manager across many aspects of the dealership and it's operations.
The successful candidate will possess the following experience and attributes:
- Technical automotive experience gained from within a retail environment and preferably within a prestige environment.
- Previous experience in a Service Department leadership role (Workshop Controller experience preferable but not essential).
- Extensive knowledge of service operations.
- Mechanical/Automotive trade qualification or equivalent.
- Strong delegation and prioritisation skills.
- Articulate, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proactive in developing processes and providing solutions to challenges within the Service Department.
- Strong people management skills and the desire to continually develop.
