The Opportunity
Are you an experienced workshop professional seeking a leadership role? We are currently looking for a Workshop Foreman to join our clients team. As the Workshop Foreman, you will play a crucial role in supervising and managing the workshop and mechanical staff to ensure the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment are carried out to the highest standard.
The Tasks Ahead
- Ensure maintenance is of the highest standard, ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy
- Supervise and delegate tasks, ensuring targets and deadlines are met
- Assist staff in carrying out their duties and work on outstanding jobs when necessary
- Order non-inventory parts to ensure availability for jobs
- Communicate effectively with managers and co-workers to meet work requirements and targets.
- Minimise vehicle downtime during services/repairs
- Supervise and train apprentices, instructing workshop personnel on tasks and procedures
- Monitor apprentices' progress and report to the Branch Manager and National Workshop Manager.
- Complete accurate timesheets and authorise them for processing daily
- Create detailed Work Orders reflecting work done, parts used, and labour
- Control parts and labour costs within budgetary limits
- Assist the National Workshop Manager in planning major repairs for optimal operations.
- Ensure timely completion of services on company vehicles/equipment
- Supervise supplier invoice processing and promptly forward invoices to Head Office
- Schedule contractors and outside resources for efficient completion of maintenance and repair work.
- Manage emergency breakdowns, ensuring resources are available for quick solutions
- Complete defect notices daily and schedule repairs as necessary
- Monitor Purchase Orders and promptly report delivery issues to the Purchasing Department.
- Ensure accurate receiving, labelling, and placement of inventory items
- Perform scheduled stocktakes after completing housekeeping tasks and forwarding Work Orders to Head Office
