We are currently inviting applications to fill the position of Workplace Health and Safety Manager and Fire Safety Advisor. The position is for a full-time role, with the successful candidate ideally commencing as soon as possible.
The Role:
This role will suit an applicant who can provide a high level of support to our College Leadership with WHS advice, investigation support, documentation development support and practical safety initiatives to improve College safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Excellent communications skills
- Promoting our positive safety culture and initiatives at all times
- Provide advice to College Leadership to ensure compliance with company WHS management systems
- Conduct internal investigations, risk analysis and reviews in timely manner
- Maintain safety documentation
- Scheduling ongoing safety management activities
- Compliance and knowledge of OH&S Act, Regulations and Guidelines are up to date
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Audit safe plant (equipment) and structures to ensure compliance;
- Provide and maintain safe systems of work (written operating procedures);
- Ensure the safe use, handling and storage of equipment, structures and substances (chemicals);
- Monitor the health of workers and their working conditions to be able to prevent illness or injury whilst they are carrying out their work duties.
Fire Safety Advisor
- Provide workplace Fire Safety advice and guidance, promoting the development of Fire Safety arrangements and procedures that comply with legislative requirements and best practices;
- Investigating any workplace fires and preparing reports and recommendations to reduce the risk of personal injury, fire, and property damage;
- Provide Fire Safety training courses for staff and employees at the workplace at least once every two years;
- Creation of new and maintain existing fire evacuation diagrams where necessary;
- Complete all necessary paperwork in relation to the fire hydrant ring located on the College grounds;
- Facilitate with contractors to Ensure monthly and bi-annual servicing is conducted on the Fire Pump and hydrants;
- Oversee new installations of safety equipment;

Prerequisites
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent)
- Current approved Building Fire Safety Qualification
- Hold a positive notice Working with Children Check Blue Card
- Pastoral Reference.
