A national fit-out contractor has an immediate need for a National Safety Manager to join its team in Brisbane. With offices and projects throughout Australia, this is a national, senior role managing the safety systems, processes and culture for the entire business, currently employing approximately 100 staff.
Reporting to the company directors you will be responsible for the following.
- Based of their Brisbane offices, in an executive role, you’ll spend 90% of your time here focusing on strategy and improvement
- Management of the entire WSHE department for this National contractor
- Improvement and consistent management of the safety culture across the business
- Management of the safety team including administrators and safety advisors
- Ensuring company staff and site managers are complying to safety systems, company WHSE policies and plans.
- Providing training and coaching around best practice, legislation, procedures and systems compliance.
- This is a leadership role, office based and works alongside the company directors and through your deep-rooted understanding of HSEQ regulations and best practices, you will improve safety and business performance.
To be suitable or this role, you will possess the following;
- Experience as a Safety Manager with a building contractor in Australia is essential.
- Experience driving and improving best practice in HSEQ with a building contractor
- This is managing the entire safety department oin a National basis – experience in a similar role will be fundamental.
- Can demonstrate success in improving safety culture within the built environment
- Experience working in safety across building, refurb and fit-out projects is key.
- Cert IV or Diploma in WHS and 10+ years’ experience working in commercial fit-out and construction.
- You will of course have good communication skills and be passionate about safety.
- You must be able to deliver high level support and training to project teams and management in regards to Safety and Environment legislation and systems compliance.
- Able to continually review and seek to improve the Safety and Environment systems.
