Reporting to the General Manager Governance, Communications and Customer Experience, the Manager Strategic Communications and Engagement is the driving force behind the Council's Communications plans; collaborating with diverse stakeholders to ensure the Council achieves its goals and engages effectively with the community. This role will build trust and confidence from the community, by increasing engagement and reach and providing high-quality advice to the Council. With responsibility for a broad multi-faceted portfolio, this role leads key functions including Communications (internal and external), Public Relations, Consultation and Engagement, Media Issues Management and Stakeholder Relations. This critical leadership role will align staff to a shared vision and purpose, promoting a strategic and data driven approach to Communications and Engagement.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will be a strategic and innovative leader with proven senior communications experience in large, complex and fast paced environments. You are politically astute, possess exceptional stakeholder management skills and an ability to engage and collaborate effectively with Executive peers and Councillors (or similar). With an ability to traverse seamlessly between the operational and strategic, you bring strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work through complexity. You are highly regarded for your inspirational and entrepreneurial ways of working, and thrive in fast paced and dynamic environments, where you can effectively prioritize and delegate. You have a proven ability to embed high standards of engagement and Communications and bring experience driving continuous improvement through effective strategies, systems and processes.
