About the Role

Would you like to work for a program with a solid history of empowering unpaid carers by providing engaging quality services and programs to support their needs and families? Then we have the role for you!

Our Carer Program is seeking a full time Young Carer Navigator for the Rockhampton & surrounding regions. We are going through an exciting period of growth here at Carers Queensland in our Carer Program, and it's a perfect time to join us on our mission to make a difference and connect with our Carers through Carers Queensland’s peak body function.

The role requires expertise in advising and supporting Young Carers across the regions by delivering coordinated services. This will include providing one-on-one specialised support to Young Carers, planning, facilitating, and evaluating capacity-building workshops and enhancing community connections to promote Carers Queensland and Carer Gateway programs and services.

Are you:

  • Competent in assessing and understanding Young Carers' needs and provide exceptional group facilitation?
  • Highly skilled in communication, both written & verbal, and can build rapport and adapt skills according to the audience or target group involved?
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional workshop planning & facilitation skills?
  • A superstar at building positive relationships with young people including completing high level referrals for Young Carers that enable positive connections to the community?

**You must be willing to travel regularly, build connections, and facilitate workshops across the city of Rockhampton & surrounding areas***

About you - do you have:
  • MANDATORY relevant tertiary qualification, e.g. Cert IV or higher in Youth Work/Community Services or a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the community services sector.
  • An understanding of client-centred practice with demonstrated ability and experience interacting and supporting diverse client groups in a positive, friendly, and welcoming manner.
  • Are you passionate about supporting, promoting, and driving awareness around improving quality of life and building connections for Young Carers?
  • Please note: It is a mandatory requirement for all successful Applicants to hold current and valid Driver license, Blue/Yellow Cards before commencing employment with Carers Queensland Ltd.
