About the role
In this role, you will engage with young people across the Geelong region (aged between 12-25) bringing them together to participate in programs designed to provide them with a single point of contact to connect with the people, programs and services they require. You will support the planning and delivery of programs, activities and events that connect young people to local HUBS across the municipality.

Work type: Casual
Classification: Band 3 $41.00 p/h (inc casual loading)

Key responsibilities include:

  • In collaboration with young people and the Youth Development Unit, deliver fun and creative activities and programs that connect young people to HUBS.
  • Actively support young people to meaningfully engage in activities, programs and events delivered by the Youth Development team across the municipality.
  • Provide high levels of supervision of large numbers of young people and ability to manage critical incidents.
  • Complete all administrative tasks, compliance training relevant to the Youth Activities Officer.

About you
The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience working with a diverse range of young people from varying backgrounds. You will possess a warm, caring and engaging personality, with a high level of resilience and the confidence to manage conflict situations. You will have a keen eye for detail, be methodical and diligent in your approach to your work and be willing to roll up your sleeves and pitch in where required.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in the area of youth engagement, activities and/or youth programs.
  • Knowledge of the youth work sector and the ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders and networks.
  • Experience in developing and delivering events, inclusive of diverse cohorts of young people.
  • Experience in facilitating and working with groups of young people using a youth participatory framework.
  • An ability to work after hours and weekends.
  • Tertiary qualifications (or currently studying) in the Social Work, Youth Work and/or a relevant field.
  • Current Employee Working with Childrens Check.
