About Monash Health

Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service. We are proud to provide healthcare to one quarter of Melbourne’s population, across the entire life-span from newborn and children, to adults, the elderly, their families and carers. More than 22,000 employees work at over 40 care locations across south eastern Melbourne, including Monash Medical Centre, Monash Children’s Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Kingston Centre, Cranbourne Centre, and an extensive network of rehabilitation, aged care, community health and mental health facilities. About the Young Persons’ Mental Health Service (YPMHS)

The YPMHS has undergone a make-over to become one of the best in its field. It spans the entire Mental Health Program catchment area and comprises five friendly, vibrant and closely-knit teams,

  • Youth Consultation & Treatment Team (YCTT)
  • Personality Disorder Specialist Service (PDSS)
  • Youth Recovery and Prevention of Psychosis Team (RAPPT)
  • Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC)
  • Unit 2 (25 beds)

We are seeking Peer Workers with recent personal lived experience as a young person with mental health challenges and recovery.

About the YCTT:

The YCTT is a community based clinical service dedicated to working closely with young people (18-25) facing complex mental health issues. The YCTT provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and recovery support for young people with non-psychosis illnesses

for example, borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. YCTT also works collaboratively with each young person’s family/carers, significant others and social support network.

About You

You are dedicated and passionate about youth mental health and recovery from mental health challenges. You want to share your lived experience of mental ill-health and recovery, where appropriate, to support other consumers to build understanding, hope and resilience in line with peer support principles. You enjoy working with people who face complex mental health issues, and you have a strong commitment to personal recovery. You are willing to engage with consumers, to use your lived experience, and work in partnership with clinicians.

Monash Health will offer:

  • salary packaging
  • friendly and supportive culture
  • opportunity to experience various teams
  • on-going supervision and professional development
