About the role – Max Term Contract Part-Time 0.6FTE until 30/06/2025 and casual opportunity available
As a Youth Support Worker, you’ll contribute to the day to day running of a Youth Accommodation facility. You’ll support and empower vulnerable and at-risk youth who voluntarily come to our facilities. You’ll build rapport with our young people, to empower them to be independent and live their best lives.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Promoting young people’s independence
- Supporting and developing young people’s life skills, creating a welcoming, friendly and inclusive environment using trauma informed care
- Positive role modelling skills to assist young people achieve their goals in accordance with the Care Plans and Program objectives.
About you:
You’ll be passionate about youth and ending the cycle of homelessness. You’ll be eager and enthusiastic, calm under pressure and hard working. Most importantly, you’ll strive to help vulnerable and young people become the best version of themselves in a non-judgmental and inclusive way.
You’ll also have the following skills and experience:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Youth Work, Community Services or a related field;
- Experience working with aboriginal people and communities, culturally and linguistically diverse people, LGBTQIA+ and their communities
- The ability to engage with young people and build strong relationships
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle a busy caseload
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to follow processes and procedures to ensure quality and reporting data is maintained
Specific Requirements:
Baptist Care SA is committed to the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable people and as such applicants will be considered in accordance with our safety practices and suitability.
You will be required to have, or be willing to obtain:
- Full unrestricted South Australia Driver’s License
- DHS Child-Related Employment Screening or Working With Children check
- National Police Clearance
- A Successful Psychological Suitability Assessment in accordance with Department of Child Protection requirements
- Training: Provide First Aid
- Training: Safe Environments for Children and Young People - 'Through their Eyes'
- Ability to work across a 24 hour 7 day a week roster
