Role Overview:

Join us in making a difference! We are seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Youth Worker in our supported accommodation setting. Help empower homeless young people towards independence and community integration. Apply now to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people!

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, Implement, and Review:
    • Coordinate casework, including intake and assessment procedures.
    • Manage case files efficiently.
    • Facilitate linkages and referrals to other agencies.
    • Foster safe and respectful relationships within the house.
    • Support daily activities and housekeeping.
    • Focus on nurturing young people's relationships, activities, and interests.
    • Guide developing independent living skills.
  • Collaboration and Networking:
  • Foster links with government and non-government agencies.
  • Foster open communication with key workers and agencies.
  • Expand cross-referral options by engaging with community groups.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Raise awareness about the accommodation needs of young individuals.
  • Identify pertinent issues affecting young people for policy and program development.
  • Contribute to the organisation's efforts to increase community participation.

Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with staff, government, and non-government bodies.
  • Proficient in case planning to ensure comprehensive support for individuals.
  • In-depth understanding of youth-related issues, especially homelessness.
  • Dedicated to principles of social justice, empowerment, and self-determination.
  • Familiarity with statutory requirements like the Child Protection Act and Young Offenders Act.
  • Thorough knowledge of Public Housing, including transitional and emergency accommodation.
  • Proficiency in income support options catering to young people.

Requirements of the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, or equivalent, or possess extensive community work experience and training
  • Current SA driver’s licence
  • Current First Aid and a CPR certificate
  • Current DHS Working with Children Check, DHS NDIS Worker Screening Check and a National Police Clearance
  • Assessment for Psychological Suitability to work in a Children’s Residential Facility or be willing to undergo the assessment
  • Possess Certificate III or IV in Youth Work, Juvenile Justice, or Alcohol & Other Drug (highly desirable)
  • Possess a current Safe Environments for Children and Young People – Through Their Eyes certificate (desirable)
