About Me
Hello! I am a 15-year-old male. I have various diagnoses including a rare Chromosomal Depletion Disorder, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (level 3), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and global developmental delay. I am looking for friendly, enthusiastic, energetic and engaging Support Workers to assist me in achieving my goals. I am looking for a team who want to support me to maintain connected to my school, community and preferred activities. I like cars, trampolining, swimming, playing basketball, soccer, football, horse riding, go-carts and gaming, helping people, going to the beach and fishing.
The Role
An Opportunity is available to join my team of wonderful support workers who help to facilitate my daily life. My support workers assist me on a 2:1 ratio during the day and single passive overnight.
Due to some of the challenges I face, I can engage in verbal and physical aggression, property damage, food bingeing, eating non-food items, absconding, and sexualised behaviours. In this instance I would like you to support me and help keep me safe by implementing the strategies you will learn through my positive behaviour support team including implementing play-based engagement, my activity roster, alert program and functional communication.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist me with assisted daily living tasks
- Personal care
- In home activities such as cooking and arts.
- Ensure I am engaging in meaningful activities.
- Support me to maintain my connection to school, community, and my family.
- Support me to achieve my goals to reach my potential in all facets of my life.
- Support my life skill development through proper implementation of established plans and programs to support the achievement of goal outcomes for me.
- Actively engage in person centred active support.
- Maintain accurate records.
Shifts
I am looking for someone to support me on a casual basis with the potential to join the team part time in the future as my supports increase with the right team.
My shifts are generally but not limited to:
0700-1600
0730-1500
1445-2230
1600-2230 then passive 2230-0630 then active 0630-0730.
The ideal candidate will have:
- NDIS Worker Screening or DHS Disability related check
- Working With Children Clearance
- Current Driver's Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR
- Certificate IV in Individual Support (Child & Youth/ Disability) or other relevant qualification
About you:
I am looking for a creative, enthusiastic, energetic, engaging person to join my team. A good match for me would be someone who has an efficient and confident approach in what they do and possesses a calm and patient nature. A good sense of humour is also important.
Other requirements:
- Experience in working with people who have experience with high level of behaviours of concerns.
- Ability to implement individualised developmental programs.
- Experience implementing positive behaviour support strategies.
- Flexible working hours
- Experience in various models of support preferred.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes in service delivery.
