About the role
We are currently recruiting a Zone Substation Senior Electrical Technician - SCADA to join our Transmission Services South East team. This role will be based from Jindabyne, Bega, Moruya, Queanbeyan or Goulburn.
The Zone Substation Senior Electrical Technician - SCADA will be exposed to and may be responsible for the coordination/management of the construction and maintenance of Zone Substations and the installation, commissioning and testing of Zone Substation equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Construction and Maintenance of Zone Substations
- Installation, commissioning and testing of associated Zone Substation equipment
- Maintain and commission network protection and control systems (Intermediate and Complex)
- Inspect, test, analyse and prepare reports regarding the nature and condition of Network assets to maintain quality standards
- Access, use and analyse computerised systems to operate remote equipment
- Carrying out switching operations associated with both high and low voltage Engineering Services
- Operate plant and equipment associated with Zone Substations in a safe manner
- Coordinate the development of business strategies, planning, budget forecasting and policy development
About You
Ideally, you will have hands-on experience in designing, maintaining, and deploying SCADA systems. However, we welcome all candidates who possess a solid understanding of Zone Substations. As an experienced Substation Electrician, you should demonstrate your skills through relevant qualifications or past work experience. Keep in mind that this role may require travel, and you should be open to working away from your base location when necessary.
Required Qualifications/Skills
- Diploma in ESI - Power System with preferred electives in Protection and Testing would be desirable or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
- Drivers Licence
- Qualified Supervisors Certificate
- WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Cert
- Attainment and ongoing successful maintenance of all regulatory, industry and business required licences, authorisations and other such certificates deemed necessary for the role.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Basic skills in computer operations
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate electronically in writing and liaise with stakeholders and customers in an amicable manner.
