Focusing on the fauna of the Pilbara region, this role will be engaged on a permanent full-time basis.This role is a great opportunity for a motivated, safety-conscious professional to join a multi-disciplined team; applying knowledge of relevant legislation and technical guides to Pilbara-focused Government and Environmental Approvals; and to contribute to a regional understanding of environmental values to inform future planning.We are an open, connected global team that includes some of the industry’s best and brightest minds. With a global reach, the opportunities to develop and grow your career are broad and exciting.Reporting to the Fauna Manager for Pilbara Environment and Cultural Knowledge, you will:
  • Prepare technical reports, data, analysis and provide technical advice to support government and environmental approval requirements
  • Collaborate and build relationships with the internal approvals team, project stakeholders and other subject matter experts
  • Lead biological surveys, participate in industry research and contribute toward innovation in the assessment of Pilbara biological values
  • Undertake effective survey planning including, sampling design, logistics and health and safety
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of biological assessment methods, processes and technologies to ensure continuous improvement
  • Contribute toward an inclusive culture through collaboration with peers across the broader team
What you’ll bringTo be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset
  • Tertiary qualifications in an environmental discipline or related.
  • Demonstrated experience as a field zoologist/biologist, ideally within the resources sector and/or the Pilbara region
  • Problem-solving, prioritisation and analytical skills coupled with an ability to think on your feet and make informed decisions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to quickly develop positive and robust relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS
