- This accredited placement will facilitate a structured approach to knowledge and skill acquisition, through a variety of activities including practical and online teaching under full supervision of the ultrasound Special Skill supervisor and consultants.
- All scans will be recorded in a logbook and recorded. Regular formal case reviews, supervisor meetings and journal clubs will be conducted. It is expected that trainees attended registrar teaching, including state-wide meetings.
- During scanning shifts, candidates will be supporting senior and junior medical staff in the ED by performing appropriate scans and ultrasound-guided procedures.
- The placement includes clinical duties with one in three weekends. The clinical duty time allows completion of the basic CCPU units of AAA, EFAST , BELS and lung ultrasound.
Rosebud is a smaller Community hospital nestled in the heart of the Peninsula, perfectly positioned directly opposite the beach. EMR, bed management and all clinical systems are fully integrated between the two departments.Peninsula HealthIt is a major teaching and referral centre with over 360 beds. The ED has access to a comprehensive range of acute medical, surgical, geriatric, psychiatric, obstetric, gynaecological and paediatric services on site. All the major imaging modalities are on site.
The $1.1 billion redevelopment of Frankston Hospital will deliver a new 12-storey clinical services tower and main entrance, 130 more beds, new spaces for mental health and oncology services and 15 new operating theatres. Construction is underway, with main works expected to be completed in 2025. A new dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department and Crisis Hub is being built as part of the redevelopment.

Both departments have active Emergency Short Stay units with a total of 40 beds across both sites and a further 10 beds planned as part of the current Frankston Hospital redevelopment. The admission rate is about 40%, with a diverse and high acuity casemix.
There are currently 45 consultants working in the Emergency Department across both sites including 3 ACEM examiners.
Peninsula Health Emergency Medicine has a strong educational program and is accredited by ACEM as a Tier 1 training site at Frankston ED and is accredited for Training stage 4. In addition to ACEM trainees, the Emergency departments also regularly train candidates for the EMC and EMD.

Essential: Do you have previous ACEM Trainees at Advanced Trainee Level?
Essential: Do you have advanced trainee post-Fellowship?
Essential: Are you a Medical Practitioner Registered with Medical Board of Australia?
Desirable: Do you have research involvement and capability?
Desirable: Do you have active involvement in Quality improvement; knowledge and participation?
Essential: Do you have teaching experience?
Essential: Must hold or be eligible for registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner (General, Provisional or Limited Level 2 supervision minimum)
Essential: A current Employee Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required for all medical staff. If you have a WWCC please list the number and expiry date. If you are an Overseas or Interstate candidate, please write N/A. Please note, you will be required to apply upon arrival into Victoria.
