Job description

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice or chef to take on a role within our close knit kitchen team. This position is open to applicants already signed up as an apprentice in their second & third years or a fully Qualified Chef.

About Us:

Metropolitan Hotel Maitland is a newly renovated establishment nestled in the heart of Maitland, NSW, blending historic charm with modern comfort. Our venue prides itself on serving fantastic classic pub dishes alongside some unique and creative menu offerings.

Your Role - 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice Chef:

As an Apprentice Chef, you will work closely with our experienced chefs to develop your culinary expertise. Responsibilities include assisting with food preparation, learning cooking techniques, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Requirements - 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice Chef:

  • Enrolled in or completed a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice)
  • Passion for food and eagerness to learn
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well in a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
     

Your Role - Qualified Chef:

As a Qualified Chef, you will help our kitchen team in delivering high-quality culinary creations. Responsibilities include menu planning, food preparation, maintaining kitchen standards, and ensuring food safety and hygiene protocols are followed. Your creativity, leadership skills, and attention to detail will contribute to the success of our restaurant.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a similar role
  • Relevant culinary qualifications
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
  • Creativity and ability to develop innovative menu items
  • Leadership abilities and excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to upholding food safety and hygiene standards
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
