The CALHN Heart & Lung program – Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit Inpatient Wing is a high-acuity surgical ward providing specialised care to patients in the pre- and post-operative management of elective and emergency heart and lung surgeries. The unit is committed to providing evidence-based care that is flexible and responsive to client needs and follows current nursing models of care.
The Enrolled Nurse within the Heart & Lung Program supports the Registered Nurse in the provision of person-centred care consistent with regulatory and statutory requirements. Practice at this level is from novice to proficient Enrolled Nurse practice. Employees at this level work under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, however at all times the Enrolled Nurse retains responsibility for his/her actions and remains accountable in providing nursing care.
The CALHN Heart & Lung Program, provides nursing services within current nursing models of care focussing on patient centred acute inpatient services both emergency and elective; including cardiac and respiratory diagnostics and interventional and electrophysiology procedures and Cardiac & Respiratory Rehabilitation and Heart & Respiratory Failure and outpatients Services. The Heart & Lung nursing service extends to management of the Cardiothoracic Surgery wing and preoperative service.
Qualifications
- Enrolled or eligible for enrolment as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
