We have the opportunity for a skilled Aboriginal Boarding Transition Support Officerto join Catholic Education and help deliver on our commitment to Quality Catholic Education in our schools.

We have determined that Aboriginality is an essential requirement for this role, so we welcome applications from people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander only.

What you will be doing?

You will be working collaboratively within the CEWA Transition Service Unit (TSU), developing strong networks and partnerships with CEWA staff and school leadership teams in relation to Remote Aboriginal Boarding Student and Families Transition Support and Education in Catholic schools.

This role will be based in Broome supporting the Kimberley region.

This is a part time (0.4FTE ) fixed term position commencing as soon as possible and concluding 31 December 2024, with the opportunity to extend the term subject to funding.

  • Understanding of Aboriginal cultures and Aboriginal communities across Western Australia.
  • High level written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive written reports.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively, both in person and remotely.
  • Highly developed skills in digital technologies.
  • Capacity to develop and maintain strong professional links with staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver professional learning to adult learners that supports Aboriginal education.
  • Capacity to innovate, problem solve and develop creative solutions to emerging issues with a focus on improving Aboriginal student outcomes in the boarding context.
  • Current Working with Children Check and a current National Police History Check as issued by the Department of Education Western Australia must be provided by the successful applicant.
  • A willingness to travel to and work in regional and remote locations.
