We have a newly created opportunity available as part of our WAACHS Study team - The Western Australian Aboriginal Child Health Survey (WAACHS) was the largest survey ever undertaken into the health, wellbeing and development of Western Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. The team has been provided with an opportunity to revisit the collected survey data combined with other government administrative data sets with the aim of creating unique evidence that can be translated to make a positive impact on Aboriginal life pathways.
Closely liaising with the research team, your focus in this role will be to apply your strong communication and relationship building skills to develop collaborative partnerships with relevant government/non-government organisations, policy makers and community groups to maximise the knowledge of and the support for the WAACHS study in the wider community.
You will have the space and autonomy to help shape this position as well as the opportunity to be involved in shaping the direction of the project moving forward.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Identifying WAACHS Study stakeholders and opportunities for engagement and involvement in the study. Providing advice to the team on trends and developments in the fields of Aboriginal health, education, child protection and justice. Contributing to the development of a WAACHS translation strategy. Assisting with the engagement, support and mentoring of Aboriginal students; and the engagement and training of community researchers.Based in our office in Nedlands, this full-time position will be offered for 2 years initially. The option of reduced hours can be discussed with the successful candidate.
