About the role:
- The Manning Emergency Department is a busy department servicing the wider community including an influx of tourists in the holiday period. The Emergency Department Aboriginal Liaison Officer role is key to establishing an open pathway ensuring safe culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait People of the local Biripi /Worimi Community.
- This unique role forms part of the increasing Aboriginal workforce and Administration team which is a highly skilled dynamic team that prides itself on being inclusive, culturally responsive and committed to providing positive outcomes for members of our community whilst striving for Excellence of Every patient Every Time. The position forms part of a 24/7 service with established shift times of 09:00 to 18:00 to best support the Biripi Community on a 7-day rotating roster.
- The duties in this role varies from ensuring comprehensive record keeping in health-related systems, engaging with patients in the Emergency Department as needed along with working alongside health professionals.
- Manning has a local Aboriginal staff network that provide cultural support and connection. Continued support and mentoring will be provided for the successful applicant along with other opportunities to develop in aspirations and qualifications.
About you:
- Manning is seeking a committed and enthusiastic person to join our innovative Administration Team; the successful applicant will be working closely with Biripi/Worimi Community members to Close the Gap.
- If you are an active member of the community, good communicator, hardworking, energetic, flexible and able to work cooperatively in a team, who is honest and passionate in providing care to those accessing the Health Service we need you on our team!
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and communities, local knowledge and experience within the Biripi/Worimi Community.
- Ability to apply knowledge of electronic systems and computer software to achieve job outcomes.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
