Lead the Future as an Academic Director of First Year, within the UTS Faculty of Science. This full-time opportunity will involve partnering with various stakeholders to develop and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing the first-year student experience, curriculum, belonging and onboarding activities.
In this student facing role, you will be responsible for fostering the development and support of first year teaching and casual teaching associates, while creating a team approach to first year curricula among first year subject coordinators.
The role will also include 0.5 FTE academic position in one of two schools within the Faculty of Science, where you will maintain research and teaching activities, supervise students, and develop and maintain links with industry and the broader academic community.

About you
As an Academic Director, you will demonstrate resilience, maintain perspective, think strategically, encourage collaboration, manage vision and purpose, lead with ethics and integrity, and demonstrate technical expertise.
To be successful you will also have:
- PhD in a field relevant to research and teaching scope of the position
- Demonstrated excellence in learning and teaching activities, and understanding of contemporary teaching and learning approaches and adult learning theories.
- Experience in research activities with evidence of a strong publication track record.

This appointment will be made on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 3 years.
In this role, the initial 3-year period will be as the Academic Director - First Year; thereafter you will revert to your continuing academic role within the school. For external applicants, continuing academic position details will be discussed at interview with candidates.
Base Salary Range: $142,739 to $163,924 pa (Level C) - Senior Lecturer
Base Salary Range: $172,048 to $188,604 pa (Level D) - Associate Professor
