  • From $104,726 - $113,545 (HEW Level 7) pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Appointment Type: Part-Time (0.8 FTE), Fixed Term Contract until October 2024
  • Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, Dharug land, North Ryde

The Role

The Accessibility Advisor will provide specialist and escalated support and advice to students and to develop, schedule and facilitate adjustments and programs in multiple formats for students with accessability needs.
Reporting to the Manager - Accessibility, key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Assess and monitor reasonable adjustments for students with a disability that meet statutory requirements.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and implement supports and programs for students with accessibility needs in multiple formats (e.g. individual, group, online, etc.).
  • Assist students with accessability needs in their development of skills utilising accessibility software and technologies.
  • Facilitate the development and oversee the implementation of Individual Educational Access Plans (IEAPs) for students with accessability needs and/or health conditions.
  • Collate, upload and maintain clinical records in line with privacy and confidentiality legislative and funding requirments, following all student consultations, in relevant clinical systems.
  • Identify the need for and refer clients to other relevant internal or external allied health or community services.
  • Identify, evaluate, escalate and report on potential risks in relation to students with accessibility needs.
  • Educate individuals and groups on biopsychosocial, health, participation and wellbeing issue
  • Identify, develop and implement improvements to work processes that increase effectiveness and efficiencies in relation to the provision of reasonable adjustments
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and/or improvements to administrative systems, processes and procedures on support services provided to students with a disability.

Within the DVC(A), the Dean of Students has overall responsibility for student support services and student experience including Student Engagement, Equity, Diversity and Belonging, Complaints and Misconduct and Student Wellbeing Services.

Selection Criteria

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Health Services or related discipline.
  • Expertise in the delivery of disability, welfare/education or health/social sciences services to students
  • Expert knowledge of student accessability needs and issues and student wellbeing, student safety, equity and inclusion issues in the higher education sector
  • Knowledge of the Australian higher education system.
  • Significant experience executing student wellbeing projects and programs.
  • Experience providing excellence in wellbeing client/customer services to students
  • Experience contributing to continuous service improvement and transformation initiatives.
  • Experience managing, analysing and reporting on data and complex business processes.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to build and manage partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
