Diverse Accountant role with a growing IT Services business servicing Governmental and Blue-chip clients in Mining and Oil and Gas
The ClientOur client is a steadily growing IT Services business servicing both governemental and blue-chip clients in mining and the oil and gas industries. They specialise in Modern Work, Security, Cloud and Infrastructure Projects and Managed Services. With a great balance of ongoing managed services business this is also your chance to work alongside project managers to ensure projects are implemented on time and remain within budget. Due to growth, they currently have a role for a motivated Corporate Accountant to join the team based in Perth, WA.
The Role
The Corporate Accountant is an integral part of the Finance Team responsible for the accounting, compliance and financial reporting functions of the Group and providing broad support to the department and overall business strategy. Reporting to the Financial Controller, your duties will include but not be limited to;
- Month-end reporting (posting journals/reviewing results / providing commentary)
- Month-end close process includingoversight of all revenue activities with a focus on service and product invoicing, revenue recognition
and end of month reconciliations. - Manage accounts receivable /credit control including allocation of customer payments.
- Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register.
- Prepare the Quarterly BAS returns and monthly IAS.
- Assist in driving continuous improvements in processes, systems, and controls.
- Work collaboratively with the Finance team to ensure processes and compliance are met in relation to financial reviews and annual auditng requirements.
- Support forecasting and budgeting processes and ad hoc financial queries.
- Finance Business Partnering with internal support functions and Business Units to support the transformation of internal systems, processes, and benefits
- Assist in the preparation of annual corporate budgets and monitor expenditure
- Assisting in the administration of ERP including coordinating monthly, quarterly and annual closing.
As an ideal applicant, you will have;
- CA/CPA/CIMA qualification (or in the process of attaining) combined with with 3- 4 years’ experience OR
- the ability to migrate to Commerce from Business Services where you have done some outsourced monthly reporting on behalf of your clients
- Showing the ability to self-identify, investigate and resolve any accounting issues, under time pressure
- Experience in Xero and Netsuite would be very advantageous
- Continuous improvement of procedures and processes to improve efficiency
- Solid knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS (particularly IFRS 15 - revenue recognition)
- Demonstrable strong communication skills and relationship skills
