In this role you will work closely with the CEO to build the organisation's capability and be responsible for overseeing the general ledger, compliance reporting, asset management/budgets and management reporting for all business areas to ensure financial resources are available to support the delivery of strategic outcomes. The position provides both financial and management accounting support by ensuring that the financial transactions, policies and procedures of the organisation are represented accurately and reported on a timely basis, leading to credible and timely financial management reports. The Accountant is a crucial position for the organisation in maintaining financial acuity, and for ensuring that a continuous improvement model is in place for all relevant systems and processes.
About you:
We are searching for a significantly experienced finance professional, who will have ideally gained some or all of their accounting experience within a complex organisation. Our ideal candidate will have previous management experience, and be familiar with guiding a positive, high achieving team towards the goals set out by the organisation. We are looking for someone who is a confident professional with effective time management, who leads from the front and always looks for ways to better the processes and systems being used by the finance team. Our ideal candidate is also an effective communicator, who won't hesitate to challenge their management when they think that there are better ways to achieving outcomes. We are also hoping to find someone who will possess the resilience and adaptability required to work in the constantly changing and evolving disability sector.
Duties will include:
- Preparing timely, accurate and insightful management reports including month end financial statements
- Ensuring compliance with all auditable standards and legal requirements and delivering accurate, timely reporting on compliance measures
- Managing and ensuring the integrity of the general ledger for all business areas
- Overseeing the use of accounting systems/processes such that they are as effective as possible
- Reporting on, tracking and acquittal of funding
- Recommending financial actions by analysing accounting options
- Supervision of payroll using Xero
- Preparation of BAS, FBT etc
- CA or CPA qualified with minimum 3 years' experience
- Experience of NDIS and the Not-for-Profit sector
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of Xero including Payroll
- High level computer skills, Advanced Excel
- Excellent attention to detail

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to multi task
