An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated professional to join our Finance team in a newly created role as an Accountant in a permanent, full-time capacity. Our Finance team are custodians of the organisation’s financial and payroll processes, accounting and payroll systems and data contained therein. This is an excellent position for an individual looking for variety at work and opportunity to grow a diverse range of skills. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will work closely with the finance officer and payroll officer, as well as liaising regularly with a wide range of internal customers and stakeholders.
The Accountant will:
- Lead and role model customer focused behaviour by delivering the highest standards of service to our internal and external customers.
- Identify opportunities to drive business process improvements & efficiencies.
- Preparation of general journals, including accruals, provisions, prepayments, as part of the month-end process
- Bank and Credit Card Reconciliation
- Bookkeeping and reporting
- Preparation of BAS & FBT
- Assist Finance Manager with budget and forecasting.
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register
- Assist Asset Accounting and Finance Manager with Project Accounting and Asset Management:
- Including project revenue recognition
- Project reconciliation.
- Maintenance of electronic financial files and records
- Assistance and provide backup for Accounts Receivable, Payable and payroll.
Our ideal candidate has:
- Five + years demonstrated experience in an accountant role including experience in accrual accounting, month end reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions (Employment Hero desirable).
- Bachelor's degree or similar in Accounting, Finance, commerce, or related discipline
- CA / CPA qualified.
- Proven ability to understand and apply recognised accounting principles and standards.
- High level computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Excel, Power BI & Power Query.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines whilst managing competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems and work under pressure.
- Inquisitive mindset and ability to challenge to the status quo.
- Proven ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a clear, concise, and professional manner
- Proactive team-player with ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders within the organisation, willingness to participate, self-start and work independently.
Experience working in a Government Owned Corporation, with a focus on business process improvement and developing process documentation will be highly regarded along with knowledge of Microsoft Business Central and Xero.
