Wellness Health Consultants is seeking an outstanding Accountant to provide general and comprehensive financial support services. This position will work closely with investigators, research coordinators, industry sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs) and others to monitor expenditures, prepare and reconcile financial data, submit and oversee research billing compliance activities, and manage research participant payment processes.
The position will expect you to serve in a variety of capacities, including but not limited to, reviewing, processing and/or approving day-to-day transactions, monitoring expenditures, managing research billing activities, working with leadership and sponsors to ensure payment, and reviewing study calendars and budget setup for clinical trials. In addition, you will provide setup, processing, and management of participant payment systems for subjects engaged in clinical research activities.
In this role you will play a vital and pivotal role in ensuring the smooth financial operations of our well faceted organisation.
Education/Experience
Required
Bachelors Degree in Accounting and/or Finance and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in general accounting in a clinical setting and in the management of clinical trial budgets.
Working experience in using a Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).
Experience working with medically based complex automated accounting systems and processes.
Experience in accounting for, and developing budgets for Grant-Funded trials.
Experience in, negotiating Clinical Trial budgets with Industry Sponsors and other donors
Maintain thorough working knowledge of regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practices ( GCP)
Qualifications
The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with various departments including an HRECC and Government departments and a firm commitment to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial accounting records.
Knowledge of a broad range of accounting and financial software is a must as is proficiency in MS Excel. Additional knowledge of medical software would be highly considered and advantageous in this role.
You must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an excellent attention to detail and firmly established organisational skills in a faced paced environment with constantly changing demands.
High interpersonal skills and effective communications at all levels of practice with an ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, team environment.
Have the ability to listen, understand and communicate information and ideas effectively, over the telephone or in person

Responsibilities
You must have the ability to works directly with principal investigators and research staff to budget, monitor expenditures, and reconcile financial data for sponsored programs and in addition perform general accounting duties. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting principal investigators with financial management of sponsored program budgets and directs day-to-day fiscal transactions
- Prepare and processes financial reporting and/or invoicing information, as required.
- Provide expertise and advice relating to procurement and allowable charges
- Review financial expenditure for accuracy on sponsored grants and contracts
- Provide oversight and management of the clinical research participant payment system.
- Prepare and analyse financial data, reports and records, identify discrepancies, investigate, recommend and implement solutions as required.
- Provide financial analysis and support to Investigators and their study teams and personnel across the term of the Clinical Trial.
- Interpret budgets and manage expenses.
- Ensure accounting compliance with HREC policies and regulations imposed by government departments.
- Monitor expenses and costs associated with the Clinical Trial on a timely basis
- Develop bi-monthly financial reports that include as a minimum earned income, accrued expenses and the net direct balance and summary report for Principal Investigators and administration staff.
- Gather, organize, interpret and present data in a meaningful way that supports decision making at all levels.
- Track and analyse study budgets versus actual costs incurred and communicate with clinical teams to assist with operational decision making.
- Prepare monthly summary budget variance reports for Investigators.
- Monitor budgets and recommend action when there is the potential for deficit spending.
