This is an exciting opportunity to join Hyundai Capital Australia (HCAU) during our foundational stages! HCAU is currently the consulting entity of Hyundai Capital Services Korea within Australia. We’re in the process of establishing a subsidiary in Australia to provide captive-finance services to Hyundai Motor Group (HMG). HMG is Korea's 2nd largest conglomerate focusing on automobiles, auto parts, finance and more.
Hyundai Capital is the financial arm of HMG and the primary goal of its overseas branches is to increase vehicle sales by providing a full spectrum of financial services. We’re currently hiring an Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations while contributing to the strategic financial management of HCAU. In this role you’ll play a vital role in driving system implementations, refining month-end processes, supporting audit activities and ensuring adherence to AASB standards. This is a unique opportunity to influence our financial strategy and operations working in a forward-thinking team environment.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of financial systems to support accounting operations and reporting requirements.
- Manage and streamline month-end closing procedures, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting including overseeing the preparation of monthly financial statements, account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Play a key role in facilitating internal and external audits by coordinating with auditors, preparing statutory accounts and ensuring that all financial practices comply with audit requirements.
- Create, maintain and update a comprehensive accounting manual that outlines policies, procedures and best practices to ensure alignment with relevant financial regulations.
- Oversee and manage the preparation and submission of reports to regulatory bodies such as APRA and ASIC, staying abreast of regulatory changes and ensuring compliance.
- Assist the Director of Accounting and Tax in managing company tax matters, including ITR, BAS, and CBC reporting by providing expert advice on tax planning, compliance and optimization strategies.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to mitigate financial risks, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data and contribute to cross-functional teamwork to address potential accounting issues.
Your skills & experience
- Expertise in Financial Reporting with particular expertise in AASB 9 and 16.
- Ability to analyse complex financial data, identify trends and issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Tertiary qualification in accounting; CA, CPA, CIMA.
- Demonstrated success working as an Accounting Manager within banking or Automotive Finance.
- Ideally 5+ yrs experience with the willingness to be extremely hands on and the ability and to adapt to different conditions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of resilience and adaptability.
