Job DescriptionReporting directly to the Financial Controller, the AR Officer will be responsible for several elements within the financial accounting area of the business with an emphasis on cash and debtor management. The corporate activities performed centrally by the incumbent include but are not limited to end-to-end cash transactional cash processing, daily bank reconciliation, fuel card invoicing and assisting the National Credit Controller with customer queries & collections.
Operating in a centralised model, the incumbent will work alongside the National Credit Officer as well as the Assistant Accountant. Further they will liaise closely with divisional management, BDMs, and customer service staff. The incumbent will be provided with the opportunity of having full accountability and ownership of financial statement areas allocated to them and leverage off this to develop and grow. Support will be provided to accommodate for this growth.
Responsibilities Include:
- Daily receipt & payment processing
- Run customer direct debits and other banking transactions
- Perform automated AR Fuel Card Invoicing & RCTI
- Prepare and issue customer statements monthly.
- Attend to daily account related customer queries
- Assist the National Credit Controller with collections on a semi regular basis
- Promptly resolve receipt and payment allocation issues – follow up on missing remittance advices.
- Any other ad hoc duties as and when required by the Financial Controller
- Although a certificate or bachelor’s in accounting is not essential any such qualification will be viewed in a favourable manner.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar industry role for a minimum of 2 years. Examples of roles deemed as similar are AR Officer, Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeper
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Good communication (written & oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- A strong focus on customer service
- Strong Microsoft excel skills.
- Able to grasp GL software utilization skills quickly.
- Strong work ethic and able to work to deadlines.
