Why not see where we can go?Job DescriptionThis role is a unique opportunity within TAL to work closely with the Claims Insights and Analytics Manager, and the Head of Portfolio Management to drive optimal commercial and customer outcomes across TAL's Individual Life Portfolio.You will use your life insurance acumen, as well as analytics and stakeholder management skills to provide actionable insights to the Individual Life leadership team. Your key accountabilities include monitoring and reporting on the key operational drivers of our claims experience, and executing on key strategic initiatives and other deep-dive insights. This requires you to be a valued business partner to the Individual Life claims team and the broader Commercial Management team to optimise outcomes for TAL and our customersThis is an analytics and insights role that provides exposure to a very wide range of commercial issues with the potential to have real impact. It is the ideal role for a motivated and accountable actuarial candidate who has strong analytics and communication skills, likes to work across a variety of projects, and a quick learner with a keenness to understand and influence the end-to-end value chain.In this role you will:
  • Generate weekly and monthly updates on the claims result to the Claims team and Senior Leadership Team on a timely manner.
  • Liaise with Valuation and Finance teams and assist in setting the Plan on key claims operational metrics on an annual basis.
  • Perform deep dives into claims and actuarial valuation data to better understand the underlying drivers of the claims result.
  • Utilise your analytics skills to develop, maintain and enhance BAU processes (using but not limited to SQL, PowerBI and Excel) to better understand the key trends in the drivers of the claims results.
  • Utilise your excellent communication skills to build presentations and communicate findings in a clear and concise manner to senior Claims team leaders.
  • Support internal stakeholders such as Product, Pricing and Claims team on ad hoc requests.
  • Contribute to and drive key strategic projects and deep dive actuarial analysis utilising your insurance acumen, stakeholder management and analytical skills to enable the execution of the Individual Life Strategy. The strategic projects are not just limited to Individual Life Claims, but also across the broader Commercial Management priorities such as Underwriting Strategy and Product.
  • Conduct ad hoc deep dives or initiatives to investigate the root cause of emerging experience through both quantitative and qualitative analysis. Key objective is to better understand the drivers and provide actionable insights to improve outcomes across the end-to-end value chain.
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years' experience in the Australian Life Insurance Market
  • Strong analytics skills with experience in software packages such as Python, R, SQL, PowerBI and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent technical actuarial skills in order to understand the key drivers of claims.
  • Proactive and curious to understand key experience drivers and a drive to improve business performance
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering quality outcomes on multiple tasks and projects within planned timeframes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of relationship development skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills both written and verbal.
