Additional Needs Teacher
Permanent-Part Time Position – Monday and Wednesday.
- 12 weeks paid school holiday leave.
- Days: Monday and Wednesday 9am to 3pm
About Us:
Peter Rabbit Community Preschool (not for profit) is situated in the leafy suburb of Wahroonga and has been operating for 85 years. Our preschool has a lovely nature filled yard where the children can explore and learn through hands on experiences. We are a very well-equipped preschool catering to all children’s needs and interests.
Peter Rabbit Community Preschool is a 1 unit preschool catering for 20 children per day with 3 to 4 staff working with the children. This allows the staff to build and maintain positive relationships with the children, families and colleagues.
About the Role:
We are looking for an Early Childhood Teacher to support our children with Additional Needs. You should have a good understanding of the importance of inclusion and inclusive practices. You will ideally have experience working in a similar role and/or environment. There is the possibility of additional days to cover staff leave.

- Possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships
- Effective planning and organisational skills, including good time management skills
- Acts professionally and maintains confidentiality
- Willingness to undertake further training as required
- Current Teacher Accreditation with NESA
- Current Employee Working with Children Check
- Participation in co-curricular activities such as information evenings and BBQ’s
- Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQF)
- Current first aid qualifications; anaphylaxis and asthma certificate
- Child protection training.
Responsibilities:
- Support and guide children with Additional Needs to achieve their potential
- Create a caring and inclusive environment where every child feels supported and valued
- Work as part of the team to supervise all children throughout the day
- Work collaboratively with families and other allied professionals
- Participate in preparing Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives
- Assist with the Disability and Inclusion Program funding applications and support NDIS applications
- Liaise with our other Additional Needs Teacher.
