Job description

Land Transport is a leading national Road Transport company who specialists in General Freight Transport. Operating for over 40 years, we are dedicated to putting our workers first, providing a safe work environment with job security.

We are currently looking for a hands on, confident and proactive Administration Assistant to join our team in our Melbourne Depot located in Derrimut.

You will be reporting directly to the Office Manager. Your primary responsibilities will be ensuring that all paperwork, including consignment notes and manifests are entered into the JAIX Freight System ready for the drivers, utilising your attention to detail skills with a high level of accuracy.  Exceptional customer service and organisational skills will be needed as you liaise with customers, drivers, depot managers and all Land Transport staff via phone, email and in person.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Office Manager, your day-to-day tasks will see you involved in a variety of duties such as but not limited to:

  • Answering the phones and redirecting incoming calls in a professional and engaging manner
  • Taking pick up enquiries and bookings
  • Data entry into our JAIX Freight System
  • Providing administrative support as required
  • General office duties including filing, photocopying and scanning
  • Exceptional customer service and organisational skills will be needed as you liaise with customers, drivers, depot managers and all Land Transport staff via phone, email and in person.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in an administrative data entry position
  • Experience or willingness to work in a fast-paced environment working to strict deadlines and time frames
  • Demonstrated experience working with Consignment notes and Manifests – desirable
  • Strong Australian geographical knowledge
  • High level of attention to detail, problem solving and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated experience in the transport industry preferred but not essential

If you are an enthusiastic and driven person with a passion for your work, this is the role for you.  Your hours of work will be 38 hours per week working within a rolling roster between with start times of 7.00am and 9.30am, Monday to Friday with overtime (finish times will vary).
