About the facility

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong's CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

On average, the Emergency Department at University Hospital Geelong treats more than 200 plus people on any weekday, and even more people on weekends and during holiday periods. The Department has dedicated assessment areas including fast track, adult, paediatric, resuscitation, trauma and mental health areas and provides a service that ensures high quality, safe, people-focused care.

About the role

As an Emergency Department Administrative Officer you will work in a high performing, committed and flexible administrative team that:

  • provides a suite of customer and patient liaison focused services to patients, families and visitors of all areas of the Emergency Department in a manner that is respectful, compassionate and caring
  • provides vital administrative support to medical and nursing staff to support patient services and care within the Department and across Barwon Health
  • accurately collects complex patient and service data for reporting and financial services
  • establishes strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and consumers.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • demonstrated experience delivering high quality customer service
  • the ability to work in a large multidisciplinary team
  • a proven ability to multitask, manage competing priorities and problem solve
  • a proven computer literacy and ability to learn specialist programs
  • the ability to adapt to a high pressure and fast-paced environment
  • the ability to work shift hours as required
