Work as a team member of Anatomical Pathology providing administrative and secretarial support to the Perinatal Autopsy Service of Pathology Queensland, which provides a highly specialised and quality autopsy service to all Queenslanders. The role interacts daily with Pathologists, registers, mortuary and clinical teams providing advice and administrative support to ensure timely high-quality service. This position has no direct reports.
The successful candidate will provide support to clinical staff arranging an autopsy including but not limited to:
- Advice on the process or organising an autopsy
- The location of closest autopsy service
- Completion and collation of appropriate paperwork

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to deal with people at all levels of the organisation, external agencies and the public in a tactful and, where necessary, confidential manner.
- Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of required paperwork for autopsy including consent process, death certificates and supplementary papework.
- Proven ability to work autonomously to manage and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines and to show initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Organisational skills and the ability to use initiative and be adaptable in a changing and dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use a wide variety of computer software and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not mandatory, experience in medical office administration, or a background in nursing or social work would be highly regarded.
