Access theAbout the roleThe Advanced Peer Worker (APW) works under general direction to facilitate the development, planning and delivery of support services to young people experiencing early psychosis within the Early Psychosis Team.The APW will use their lived experience of mental illness to model recovery strategies to young people experiencing early psychosis, and/or families and carers within the Early Psychosis Team.The APW may engage other service providers e.g., NGOs to support the person's recovery.About youOur ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

Within the context of the responsibilities described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery principles and strength-based approach in working with people who are experiencing early psychosis.
  • Demonstrated well developed communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Demonstration ability to advocate for the consumer, family and carer perspective to identify service improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver education programs and groups to people experiencing mental illness, their families, carers and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to share relevant lived experiences of recovery to assist young people experiencing early psychosis, their families, carers and staff within the role.
