Job description

  • Work in a team dedicated to helping people make positive changes to their lives.
  • Multiple full time, ongoing and fixed term opportunities available across Victoria
  • Earn $92,332 - $104,762 per year (plus super) with guaranteed yearly increases.

Want to develop your case management and leadership skills while making a difference to your community? The Department of Justice and Community Safety are currently recruiting multiple Advanced Practitioner positions across Victoria and we want to hear from you.

Community Correctional Services (CCS) is a state-wide service that manages people on court orders, serious sex offenders on post sentence supervision and prisoners on parole.

Evidence suggests that people who re-integrate into the community following a period of imprisonment require transitional support in order to reduce their risk of reoffending.

Advanced Practitioners manage a caseload of complex and high-risk clients on court orders, many of whom have completed part of their sentence in custody. They draw on evidence-based frameworks to deliver dynamic case management practice with people who have complex needs and those who have committed serious offences.

Why we love this work

When a person's risk profile allows it, community-based rehabilitation is more effective at addressing offending behaviour than time in custody.

In your work, you will hear another person's story. You will come to understand their world view. And you will hold them accountable for their decisions. You will be part of giving a person a second chance to make a more positive contribution to the community.

Your job won't always be easy, but with a strong work ethic and a belief in what you're doing, you will be able to take pride in your work and will know what it's like to make a genuine difference in someone else's life.

What an Advanced Practitioner does

As an Advanced Practitioner, you will help a caseload of complex and high risk clients meet their court order conditions and connect them to community programs and services. You will also lead and mentor staff, guiding them to deliver quality evidence-based case management practice to clients.

Some of your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • conducting risk assessments
  • preparing case plans
  • providing interventions
  • coordinating service providers and care teams
  • address the underlying causes of offending
  • leading and developing case management staff.

What's in it for you?

  • Relocation assistance for eligible candidates
  • A fair salary
  • Generous leave entitlements
  • Transparent performance framework
  • Employee Wellbeing support
  • Comprehensive training when you commence and throughout your career
  • Secondments and promotions

What we're looking for in Advanced Practitioners

At CCS, we regularly give new opportunities to promising candidates moving from other workplaces and similar industries, and we also support current staff to advance their careers.

We look for:

  • demonstrated experience in effective case management practices with complex clients
  • excellent verbal communication skills and confidence in dealing with people exhibiting challenging behaviours
  • a proven ability to model pro-social behaviours to a caseload of individuals
  • a passion for supporting clients in the justice system while contributing to community safety; and
  • an ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve their best.

If you've read this far and feel like you would be an effective Advanced Practitioner, please apply now stating your location preference in your application.
