The Prevention and Population Health team works to improve population health and wellbeing outcomes and to reduce health inequalities through evidence-informed prevention and earlier intervention activity.
This position works within a population health team to implement population health functions across the Region, including prevention and health promotion system capability building, place-based planning and implementation, local investment management, reporting processes, and the use of population health data, evidence and outcomes-based thinking.
The core functions of the team include supporting local governments in the North to meet the legislative requirements of municipal public health and wellbeing planning aligned with the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, and the local management of the Community Health-Health Promotion and Women's Health programs.
The role involves the development and implementation of agreed work plans, service monitoring, quality improvement, and a focus on innovative approaches to prevention and population health, in collaboration with funded organisations, local governments and other partners.
The role contributes to policy implementation through collaboration with Policy and Programs Branch and provides local intelligence and feedback into statewide policy processes.
The role will also include a component of administrative and business system support across the North Region public health teams and will support Emergency Management surge functions across the North.
Accountabilities:
- Contribute to the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives including:
- (a) Assisting in research, analysis and implementation of projects based on defined outcomes and outputs.
- (b) Supporting the development and delivery of projects or sub-projects and their successful delivery and completion within resourcing, timeline, and budget parameters.
- (c) Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
- Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring, or delivering prevention and population health plans, projects or programs, and ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines. Manage projects, usually under limited direction. Contributes expertise to a team working on complex projects. Prepares project scopes and briefs within broad parameters.
- Assist in providing advice to stakeholders and assisting in the preparation and presentation of prevention and population health plan, reports and correspondence on a range of matters. Draft briefings, reports and recommendations by interpreting and analysing data.
- Maintain positive relationships with prevention and population health stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach. Briefs high level stakeholders in a variety of forums and negotiates to resolve differences to achieve agreement to plans, projects and programs.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
