The GPHU Operations Manager Prevention and Population Health (PPH) works closely with and with support from the Deputy Director GPHU to manage the PPH operations of the GPHU catchment region, modelling effective and efficient leadership in operational, resource and governance matters. The position requires mature people management and deep collaborative work with internal and external stakeholders, inside and outside health and inside and outside government, to ensure comprehensive planning, implementation and evaluation of PPH strategy and programs. Key to this is oversight of the implementation of the Grampians Region Population Health Plan (GRPHP), published in October 2023 after more than 200 people from 60 different agencies across our region contributed to its development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the GPHU PPH team focusing on delivery of effective and efficient Prevention and Population Health activities.
- Assume accountability for high standards of performance of the GPHU PPH team and ensure strict adherence of all team members to the established GPHU team processes and procedures.
- In conjunction with the Deputy Director ensure all PPH team KPI’s are met and reported in a timely manner.
- Identify service risks and report in a timely manner ensuring incidents are appropriately investigated and corrective actions implemented.
- In conjunction with the Deputy Director GPHU develop and deliver business plan that aligns with GH and DH priorities.
- Lead, develop and maintain strong cohesive working relationships across all levels of the Grampians Health as needed and with key stakeholders in DH, local government, community health and stakeholders across our region.
- Provide leadership and oversight including routine components such as reporting, resource management and staffing within the operational target.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate that they have the following:
- Extensive management experience within a large, complex healthcare or other relevant organisation, preferably at a senior level.
- Significant public health-related experience.
- Excellent people management skills developing an effective and positive culture.
- Knowledge of public health and program delivery systems and understanding of Department of Health reporting requirements.
- Strong project management and program delivery including design and outcome reporting.
- Experience with data collection processes, practices and technologies and ability to analyse performance data, create business intelligence and use data to inform decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including strong relationship management, emotional and social awareness and ability to manage sensitive and complex issues.
- Postgraduate qualification in public health, community development or relevant field, preferably at a Masters Level or working towards.
- Demonstrated experience working in public health or community settings.
