Works team are instrumental in looking after light rail (tram) and heavy rail (trains) maintenance works from upgrading track and bridges to installing concrete walls and modernizing train stations and platforms. The Opportunity:As an experienced Safety Advisor you will report directly to the Manager, Minor Works Victoria and co-ordinates health and safety systems within the Project. In this role will see you identify hazards and assesses risks to health and safety, recommend appropriate safety controls to the construction team and provides advice on incident prevention and occupational health to management and employees.
Responsibilities: Implement Occupational Health and Safety strategies, systems and initiatives
Ensure the Project is compliant with the requirements of the relevant legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian StandardsDevelop and maintain a base SWMS register and support Project staff in reviewing and updating Project SWMS;Prepare and distribute approved “health and safety reports” (i.e. news of recent incidents)Coordinate and maintain inspection registers, audits schedules, and compliance registers;Participate in site inspections, audits, and Safety Management System reviews;Required Skills and CompetenciesMinimum of 2 years post trainee phase related experience as an HSE Advisor in the commercial construction industry
Experience in disciplines such as rail and associated infrastructure
