An exciting opportunity exists for an After Hours Clinical Midwifery Educator to join Maternity Services at Wollongong Hospital

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Midwifery Educator (CME) role will provide for the coordination, delivery and evaluation of Clinical Midwifery education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Education includes orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing and midwifery staff and casual nurses and midwives as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing and midwifery staff and supporting the clinical placement of midwifery students.
The CME will work in collaboration with the Midwifery Unit Manager/Midwifery Manager and wider hospital team to develop, implement and evaluate clinical education programs relevant to Maternity Services with an ongoing focus on quality and safety.
The CME will engage in a community of practice and supervision as well as provide clinical supervision at point of care.

Selection Criteria: * Current relevant registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Registered Midwife (Division 1).

  • Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification with extensive relevant clinical experience or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching in the health care environment utilising adult learning principles
  • Demonstrated experience as a clinical facilitator at point of care and preceptor.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and safety frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ongoing commitment to own professional development.
