Your Impact in the Role
Your efforts will support our strategic initiatives, enhancing the quality of life for carers and the people they care for. This role is crucial, not just for its immediate tasks but for the lasting impact you will create in our community.
We are looking to evolve our service to offer a cottage respite model, where the person being cared for can stay overnight or for a few days, while the carer can have a break from their caring role. The service will operate on a part-time basis, supporting up to 4 overnight and 10 day program clients.
You will have an opportunity to be part of the design and development of this new and essential service in the Illawarra region and be part of a high performing team.
The position is part time (50 hours per fortnight) and is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of safe, high-quality and person-centred care. The position requires periodic travel to our central office in Canberra.
You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality care and support to our clients. You will supervise a small team of casual and/or agency support workers, providing them with guidance, feedback, and training. You will also liaise with clients, their families, and other stakeholders to ensure individual needs and preferences are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Embed Carers ACT’s Clinical Governance Framework in all program designs and deliveries, ensuring safe, high quality and effective services for clients and their carers.
- Engage with clients and their carers to conduct comprehensive intake and care planning processes, identifying and communicating the needs and goals of the participants to all staff.
- Develop engaging and appropriate activity schedules for each program, using evidence-based activities to support people with dementia or who are frail and aging.
- Coordinate all logistics of cottage and/or retreat settings, including sourcing suitable venues, completing risk assessments, stocking/coordinating food and consumables, and maintaining relationships with venues providers/landlords.
- Manage a small team of causal and/or agency staff, providing training, rostering and daily supervision.
- Complete all administrative tasks, including maintaining client records, managing bookings, contractual and management reporting and budget management
Who You Are
