McGregor Gourlay is seeking an experienced and dedicated Agronomist to join our team in the Goondiwindi and/or Meandarra Areas. As an integral part of our Agronomy team, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing expert agricultural advice and support to our clients while supporting the business' growth in the South West QLD Border Region. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of agronomy. The main responsibilities of the Agronomist include:
- Conducting on-site visits to assess crop health and provide tailored recommendations to maximise yield and quality.
- Developing and implementing effective crop rotation and management plans.
- Providing tailored recommendations to clients regarding crop management, fertilisers, and insect and weed control.
- Working closely with growers on the management of Technology User Agreements (TUA's)
- Building strong relationships with clients by delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining regular communication.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends, research findings, and best practices to continuously enhance agronomic expertise.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Science or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in providing agronomic advice within the agricultural sector.
- An in-depth understanding of local cropping systems, soil types, and climatic conditions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen interest in driving sustainable farming practices.
- Proficiency in using agronomy software and tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel as required
