Known as the School Buy-In Service, schools, preschools and partnerships can apply to our service to ‘buy in’ an Allied Health Professional. We are a dynamic, flexible, multidisciplinary service model that adapts to meet the evolving needs of our schools, preschools and partnerships. School Buy-in provides an intensive and wide scope of allied health services, with built in supervision models and the opportunity to bring your creative flair to the role.

As a member of Student Support Services and the school team, School-Based Psychologists are able to carry out responsibilities with a degree of autonomy and creativity, with project oversight and regular clinical and peer supervision provided as standard practice. You will have access to resources and quality professional development programs to meet AHPRA registration requirements and complete a PsyBA registrar program for an area of practice endorsement.
About the Role
As a School-Based Senior Psychologist, you'll provide an important, tailored on-site service at Bowden Brompton Community School, in collaboration with educational site leadership and within the interdisciplinary Student Support Services (SSS) team. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote and lead strategies to support the mental health, wellbeing, learning, social, emotional, and behavioural development of children and young people. The specific goals and activities that you will deliver are contained within a project plan that is contextual to the school’s needs.
Bowden Brompton Community School (BBCS) comprises of three campuses, offering alternative modes of support and education for students who have experienced difficulty engaging in school environments. Students at BBCS have often experienced gaps in their learning due to interacting factors such as social disadvantage, experiences of adversity and resultant developmental trauma, neurodiversity (suspected or confirmed) and/or cumulative impacts of learning support that may not have been to the level required or appropriately targeted.
Given the complexities in student presentation and the varied interventions required to support their learning, BBCS are buying in the services of a School-Based Senior Psychologist to support the implementation of trauma-informed care and positive behaviour support approaches to aid the improvement of conditions for learning.
The BBCS School-Based Senior Psychologist role will focus on supporting whole-of-school and targeted interventions that relate to student wellbeing and engagement and responding in a developmentally and evidence-informed manner to student behaviours of concern, including:
- Collaborative, trauma-informed approaches which may include support with school-wide (Tier 1) professional development activities, reflective practice and restorative methods using a psychology lens.
- Targeted group (Tier 2) intervention approaches, such as identifying, developing, facilitating and evaluating group intervention programs (e.g. addressing anxiety, emotional regulation, social and relationship skills) and providing psychoeducation within relevant curriculum activities (such as study skills, executive functioning skills).
- The role also offers a negotiable, manageable caseload of individual clinical psychosocial assessment and psychological intervention (Tier 3) within role scope/capacity.

- Recognised qualification in Psychology. (Essential)
- Current and full registration (general) with the Psychology Board of Australia. (Essential)
- Area of practice endorsement – educational and developmental psychology and/or clinical psychology and/or counselling psychology. (Desirable)
- Commitment to culturally responsive practice
- Demonstrated experience working with children and young people with a range of needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to continuous professional development.
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
AHP3: $102,641 - $110,094 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
