About the Role
The Senior Social Worker (Children in Care) provides line management and supervision to Social Workers in Children in Care roles. The position provides leadership of a state-wide specialist system resource for all staff working with children and young people in Care. This position will work with the Principal Social Worker and Senior Social Workers in Student Support Services to support the establishment and maintenance of Social Work positions with a focus on children and young people in Care, including the development of a practice framework, processes and procedures for these roles.

This position will review data and analyse current practices of responding to and working with children and young people in Care in education and develop evidence-based best practice to ensure high quality, effective and sustainable learning and well-being outcomes for 
this priority group.

  • An appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. (Essential)

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage setbacks.

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.  The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
AHP3: $102,641 - $110,094 per annum plus superannuation
