Since 1973 Couper Air has designed heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning systems that are tailored to our client's individual needs for residential and commercial properties.
We consult with architects, builders, developers, property managers (commercial and residential), as well as the home and property owner to design and construct a total system that meets our clients requirements on time and on budget.
Our service department provides high level service and comprehensive preventative maintenance contracts to residential, commercial, and industrial properties throughout Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.
We provide tailored service programs from 'on demand' services to scheduled preventative maintenance programs on monthly, quarterly, six monthly or an annual basis.
Our specialised and experienced staff includes plumbers, electricians, refrigeration technicians and design engineers. All work we do will be completed to our own high standards of service and quality.

About the role
The successful applicant will will be responsible for servicing, repairing, replacing and installation of heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning systems, throughout Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. The successful applicant will have;
- Qualified Air conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic
- Experienced
- Full Refrigerant Handling licence
- Restricted Electrical Worker’s licence (REL) with ESV
- Preference provided to applicants registered/Licensed with the VBA for Refrigerated Air Conditioning and/or Mechanical Services work
- Ability to use computer, phone and tablet as well as Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to learn and use other computer programs as required
- experience of and committed to training apprentices and fostering their skill development.

The position will be in the field service, fault finding, technical support, training and supervision of apprentices.

This position is full time with wages that are competitive with industry standards. Wage has the potential to be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on their knowledge and experience. The successful applicant will have a company vehicle (or appropriate allowances) and mobile phone.
Opportunity to work independently, manage own work, order parts and materials, supervise apprentices, and liaise with property managers, owners and other trades and transition into a managerial / supervisory role.

Skills and experience
- Qualified Air conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic
- Ability to diagnose and problem solve faults.
- Full Refrigerant Handling licence
- Restricted Electrical Worker’s licence (REL) with ESV
- Previous experience in the heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning industry
- Neat and presentable
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team
- Experience teaching and mentoring apprentices as well as qualified Air Conditioning technicians.
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Attention to detail and has high standard of work
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Punctual and reliable
- Ability to work autonomously and be self-directed to complete tasks within required time frames
- Current drivers licence
