The Field Air Group is family owned long standing and diverse aviation company. Celebrating over 60 years of operation, principle activities include:
- Air Tractor aircraft dealership for the Asia Pacific (aircraft sales, spares and maintenance)
- General aviation maintenance
- Aerial agricultural operations in Victoria and New South Wales
- Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) firebombing services (wheeled and amphibious) to Government Agencies in South Eastern Australia
- Large Air Tanker (LAT) firebombing services to Government Agencies in Australia (Field Air operate Q400AT and RJ85 types in Australia in partnership with the Conair Group of Canada)
- Other specialist aviation services
Where are we?
The Field Air Group is based at Ballarat in Western Victoria, just over an hours drive west of Melbourne. As one of Australia’s largest regional centres, Ballarat boasts excellent educational, medical, sporting and community facilities. The city has an ever growing food, wine and nightlife culture as well as remaining an affordable place to live.
The People We Are Looking For
We are looking for staff to join our aircraft maintenance engineering team and are seeking applications from a range of skill sets, including;
- Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME)
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME)
Regardless of the qualifications held, suitable applicants should be well presented, have a great work ethic, a high attention to detail and be able to work as part of a team.
About the Opportunity
Field Air’s maintenance division covers a wide range of activities including both piston and turbine aircraft in the agricultural, firefighting and general aviation sectors.
There is also scope at certain times of the year to be actively involved in the field support of our aircraft in both the aerial agricultural and aerial firefighting sectors. This year our maintenance team will provide Air Tractor maintenance support around Australia as well as customer support in locations such as New Zealand, Greece, Indonesia and China.
In late 2024, Field Air will relocate to a brand new state of the art facility in the Ballarat Airport BWEZ precinct - why not be part of this exciting phase in Field Air's history.

Desirable Attributes
- Forklift licence
- Heavy rigid truck licence
- LAME licence and relevant endorsements
- Avionics skill set (B2 licencing)
- Greek, Indonesian or Chinese language proficiency
- Current passport
- Current ASIC
Hours of Work
This role is advertised as permanent full time on a Monday to Friday basis with the typical work day from 8:00am to 4:36pm – plus the opportunity for overtime. Consideration can be given to part time arrangements for the right applicant.
Remuneration
This role is advertising for LAME and AME positions. Statutory superannuation and leave loading are offered in addition to base wage as well as opportunity for overtime. Payroll cycle is fortnightly.
