As a Qantas Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) you will be responsible for performing Aircraft Maintenance and rectification as per manufacturers’ and company specification to a high standard. You will be working with a range of specialist teams within our hangar environments, enabling you to provide excellent engineering standards on a solid foundation of safety, quality, reliability and service. 

Our Component Maintenance Services team is expanding, and we have multiple opportunities to work in a variety of areas including but not limited to Wheel and Brakes, Evacuation Systems, Avionics and our newly relocated Engines team.  We are looking for qualified AMEs (Mechanical, Avionic & Structures) or people who hold an Allied trade qualification. This opportunity is open to eligible candidates that are looking for sponsorship and relocation assistance to Australia. 

Engine and Component Maintenance Services team 

Engine Shop  

You will be removing and installing quick engine change and line replaceable components, managing storage of engine assets and rectification of engine related repairs for Qantas Group and customer airlines as per manufacturer/company specifications. 

Avionics

You will be working in the Avionics department. You will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining the avionics components of our various aircraft fleet.

Wheel and Brakes 

You will be working in the Wheel and Brake Workshop. In this role, you will overhaul and repair wheels and brakes for Qantas Group and customer airlines. This includes disassembly, cleaning, inspecting, assembly, and testing of these essential components. 

Evacuation Systems 

You will be working in the Evacuation Systems Workshop (Aircraft slides and rafts). In this role you will be responsible for the repair, overhaul and maintenance of the latest aircraft evacuation equipment including slides, reservoirs and gas generators for Qantas Group and customer airlines.  

NDT

Working in the Non-Destructive Testing using an array of inspection methods to evaluate and collect data about a material, system, or component without permanently altering it.

ULD/Galley Carts

Working in the ULD/Galley Carts we will see you carrying out work in the Unit Load Devices (ULD) and Galley Cart workshop. This role will be responsible for delivering safe, cost effective, quality maintenance components to our aircraft.

Eligible criteria  

  • Have an Aircraft Maintenance Technician trade qualification or equivalent, preferably under EASA or CASA regulations 
  • Relevant Aircraft Maintenance trade experience minimum 6 years (Mechanical, Structures or Avionics)   
  • Extensive Aircraft servicing experience on various aircrafts in a maintenance environment (advantageous)  
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Aircraft Maintenance procedures  
  • Commitment to all safe working practices and service standards  
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team  
  • Commitment to being customer focused with flexibility and willingness to undertake other reasonable duties as required  
  • Highly developed attention to detail  
  • Demonstrated high ethical/behaviour standards and self-discipline  
  • Ability to work shift work  
  • Meet all Visa requirements including English Language Proficiency with the ability to meet the English language requirements set by the Department of Home Affairs  

Please note that this opportunity is only available to qualified aircraft technicians that Carry a trade aircraft technician qualification preferably under EASA or CASA regulations. Relocation and visa sponsorship packages are offered to those that meet the specific requirements outlined in this advertisement. The TSS Visa, subclass 482 is a pathway to gaining permanent residency within Australia.
